New PRAM battery for Legacy G3 Laptops
« on: September 15, 2018, 12:09:48 PM »
I am in the process of investigating the possibilities of constructing a PRAM replacement battery for Legacy G3 laptops such as Lombard, Wallstreet & Pismo.
What issues should be worked around regarding the sale of these new 6v PRAM batteries?
Is there interest beyond my own?
Would an item price of $60 be reasonable?

I checked the link. Out of stock!
I do not believe there is a viable seller.

It's been many years, but iirc I once replaced such a battery by opening the plastic package and just put in 2 battery cells of the respective voltage. ;)

Nope, not that easy, to do it right, the batteries need to be "spot welded" as a bank and then shrink-wrapped.  I've done it back in the day, a real pain in the ass if I remember correctly

also dont forget the wallstreet battery design is totally different from the lombard and pismo. those two use two batteries while the wallstreet uses six cells in a 2x3 configuration.
got my mind on my scsi and my scsi on my mind

I don't remember the details, except that it was a 2 battery model.
Cells were from an electronic store, probably with soldering fins attached (or something like that) - sorry for confusion, didn't mean warehouse batteries.
But a six-pack is hefty ;D
