Already checked archive.org and everywhere else mentioned in search engines.

I'm running 9.2.2 (Mac OS 9 Lives) on a G4 tower. ORB Tools 1.3b can see the disks via SCSI or USB-to-SCSI; however, the disks cannot be mounted and eventually get ejected. I have a vague memory of having to use the latest ORB drivers on 9.2.2 to get them to mount.

Also, I noticed that I am on ORB firmware D20. It would be cool to find the D42 firmware, but I don't know that this is necessary. Last seen at ftp://209.185.119.20/orbtools/mac/CWMacFlash_D42S.hqx

Ebay may be a long shot. It just occurred to be that sellers are probably Windows users and would have to create an ISO image or zip the mac files.

That seller is really trying to help. But he cannot see the Mac files on his windows machine. I'm trying to provide links to easy hybrid-ISO software, but it's proving to be daunting. Bummer. So close. If I was sure this would work, I'd just buy the entire device just to get the CD-ROM. :/

So... good news. ORB Tools R11 is indeed the version that supports OS 9.2.2! I should have them within a few days, thanks to that suggestion. Once I receive them, perhaps I can add them here in the future in case anyone else is searching for them.

Love that we could solve this and that I'm not the only person who needed it. My server is now the last unicorn of Orb drivers for Mac, heh!

Was wondering if anyone are still on here and if you could help me. I have an old orb disk from my younger years I would love to see what treasures are on it. I bought an orb driver on eBay but it didn’t come with the install cd.

I tried using the driver disk you are hosting on your server (downloaded on a modern Mac and transferred to my G3 B&W via usb. Problem is every file seems corrupted/conveyed to TextEdit gibberish.

On another forum it was suggested the “resource fork”
Was getting wiped and this has to be directly downloaded from the G3. I can’t transfer it over from another modern computer. I don’t have that solved yet so I’m hoping there may be hope for this some other way.

Do you know what’s going on an a fix for it?

And, if you’re downloading it to a “modern” Mac - DO NOT open it there. Just save it there & copy / move it to your B&W via usb… AND THEN open it on your B&W with Aladdin’s… Stuffit Expander (or Stuffit Deluxe).

The ZIP file in this thread is an Apple-style ZIP with OSX extensions.
It should be opened with OSX's Archive Utility or with the "ditto" command line tool. I don't think anything on OS 9 can open this type of archive (well, it will try but the forks will be wiped).
In order to get it on a MacOS 9 machine, you would need to extract the files from OSX's Archive Utility (or with "ditto -x -k ORB_Tools_and_SCSI_Probe.zip destfolder"), and then encode them into a format that software in OS9 can recognize. I found it straightforward (albeit tiring) to do the following:

• Using the "binhex" OSX command, encode each file I want to transfer into a ".hqx" file.
  For instance, "binhex encode -o SCSIProbe.hqx ORB_Tools_and_SCSI_Probe/SCSIProbe5.2
• Using MinivMac's "ImportFl" program, move the ".hqx" file into a MinivMac II that has StuffIt Deluxe or Lite installed.
• Decode the BinHex file with StuffIt.
• Repeat for all the files I want to keep (I don't need the foreign language installers or the PDF documents in OS9)
• Create a StuffIt archive using MinivMac and add all the files to it.
• Encode the archive as MacBinary (Castlewood ORB.sit.bin)
• Using MinivMac's "ExportFl" program, move the ".sit.bin" file into the OSX host.

Addendum: I just learned about a program called "MiniUnZp" available from the Gryphel Project that develops MinivMac. It claims to decode Apple OSX-style ZIP archives (with __MACOSX hidden directories), but only if they are created using the "Compress [folder]" contextual command. So far, I've been unable to get it to work.

OS 9 and Stuffit Expander does unzip the file BUT perhaps back to the gibberish first reported.
However, moving the file to an OS 10.4.11 / Tiger partition via USB as first outlined
AND then simply double-clicking on that file in Tiger - yields the usable files.
