Anyone know how I get a Steinberg MicroMidi working ? OMS does not detect it...

Do you have the original serial cable for this box ? (iirc several different versions of such mini-din cables existed)
The serial port must be activated (not occupied by AppleTalk), but OMS reports this normally.
But you need some device connected (and active) to the 'interface', the box itself is just a kind of cable bridge.

Ah so it will only work if something MIDI is actuly connected to it ?

yes, the box itself is just passive parts to route/convert the serial data, in particular drive the optocouplers for the din-midi connection.
If a midi device is connected, then it advertizes it's presence via this signal conversion - and will most likely be detected.
