Just opened a G-Drive (Oxford chipset) 500GB external Firewire drive
and found a Seagate 500 GB Ultra ATA HD within. What sort of
cross-pollination, hanky-panky is this? Seems that maybe someone
had already performed the old switcheroo as I had intended… except
that the “void waranty” seal was undisturbed. (Not anymore.)
Referring to the attached chart and the fact that Hitachi was the
original producer of the G-Drives, how did a Seagate drive find itself
in this (now Western Digital) enclosure?
I expected to find a Hitachi HD inside.
