Connect 9.2 to NAS Qnap TS-110
« on: May 10, 2018, 11:11:22 AM »
Just installed OS 9.2 on my mac. Now i tried to connect to my NAS, a QNAP TS110. I receive a Logon scren to enter username and Password, but after that it immediately gives an error message about a wrong username and password. I made a screenshot but i cant open it whit PS on my other OSX macs.

So can i do to get on my NAS? I have SMB and AFP installed on the NAS.

And how can i convert my Pictures from OS9 to OSX?

I downloaded your attached file and changed the DMS extension to PICT, and opens in preview. You could use photoshop to save all these files as jpegs.

Yes, it worked. Converting to PICT, open in PS and save as JPEG.

Hmmm why does OS9 does not make an extension to the File?

the extension is the problem.
pict files will open on any other computer (with quicktime or something newer) but you might require it to have the proper extension to the filename to open it on intel mac by doubleclicking.

os doesnt allow password longer than 8 or 9 characters and not very many symbols. spaces are a problem too. if your share name has spaces it will fail. i tested it with a airport extreme with that exact name and it wouldnt let me connect.

My Password just has 3 letters and no symbols nor spaces. Also username has no spaces.

I think somehow it cannot use AFP or SMBv2, just like windows 98. Using W98 i can only use FTP to connect to the NAS. Oh FTP is also enabled. :D

afp what version? it has changed over time. you might need to look what is being used. encryption level and such. i had to compile one for linux to make it fit my needs. and if you need samba you are better off getting dave it will handle all the headache parts for you including transfering the forks as needed.

Can't find any information about the AFP version.

Who is Dave? Or what is Dave?

there are many many many different small errors that can cause files like this to be extracted improperly
dependijng alot on the original platform that the file was compressed + packaged on.. to what platform the file was uncompressed with
etc as well as slight differences in "Standard formats" ie" zip etc

try experimenting a bit with your extraction methods + use a different os/program combijnation and it will probably work
