any hackintosh experts around? re: graphics resolution
« on: March 11, 2018, 01:28:22 PM »
hey there guys
so i have this little leopard hackintosh box i threw together from a bunch of spare parts

consists of:
iAtkos v7 (10.5.7 OSX Leopard)
ASUS P5PE-VM motherboard
2GB DDR400 ram (max)
MSI Nvidia 6600GT Graphics (AGP 8x)
Intel Core 2 Extreme Processor (X6800)

everything is working great tbh
(3800 Geekbench 2 Score)
but im having trouble changing my resolution
at the moment any change in the resolution makes the screen
go blank and then i have to reboot

i wanted to experiment with the intel version of 10.5 for a few reasons

my hackintosh skills have been forgotten i kinda havent messed with anything
hackintosh since 2015 or so (because i had real macs to work with)

also ive noticed the insanelymac forum has been down alot lately
and 99% of the links go to that forum

problem is the tool my friend told me to use is 64bit only and i think
my leopard 10.5.7 is a mix of 32/64 bit... im trying to remember
how to force it to be 64 or 32bits - something i remember vaguely + briefly
frm the days shortly before snow leopard dropped on the scene

anyway, the real issue is that most of the 'hackintosh tools' used by any + all
work a certain way post-snow leopard.. but the leopard 10.5 is older
and seems to have some differences
chameleon wizard 4.4.1 wont work on my system its got the anti-cross symbolo
over the apps icon and says it doesnt work on this version of osx when i try to run it
so im guessing its 64bit only

im going to have to read up to figure this out i guess

i think my graphics is being recognizd by "NATIT"
http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Natit
and thats why the resolution changes are not supported..
i guess i need a real DSDT? or change my SMBIOS? or
change some plist ?

10.5.7 was released May 2009

I was looking at my 10.5.8 Hack archive I believe I used this attached file and ATY_Init & The NVIDA web drivers version 18.5.2f16 in my first Hackintosh running 10.5.8
and a GT-210 graphics card. I think you need GraphicsEnabler=No boot flag for chameleon. Using the tool MyHack 3.1.2 to update the bootloader
worked well for my older rigs but any newer versions cause kernel panics. For Hackintoshing you should have at least System running 10.6 Snow to be able to edit your bootloader files with Chameleon Wizard & various other tools that don't run on older systems.
