Japanese x86 build of OS 7.1 - ISO
« on: March 04, 2018, 11:01:54 AM »
i'm unable to verify if this is a typo or a Gem hidden in plain sight:
https://winworldpc.com/product/mac-os-7/71

If anyone with the know-how could take a look and see if this is correct or mislabeled.

If you scroll down, you'll find
Apple Mac OS 7.1 [Japanese] (ISO)   7.1   Japanese   x86   CD   37.09MB

Seems a decent jumping off point for using on modern hardware. Initial attempts to port Mac OS to x86 used DOS with Mac OS "Star Trek" being opened similar to Windows 3.1. If somehow this uses that scheme, perhaps it could be modified to 9.2.x. DOS implementation might also allow for generic drivers to be passed through.

isnt that there for the purpose of running Basilisk II ?

What is Basilisk II?
Basilisk II is an Open Source 68k Macintosh emulator. That is, it allows you to run 68k MacOS software on your computer, even if you are using a different operating system. However, you still need a copy of MacOS and a Macintosh ROM image to use Basilisk II. Basilisk II is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL).
