Thanks MacTron… and all other respondents.
Original query was in regard to a Sawtooth-to-B&W-G3 “Hybrid”… where the screwed-in-place
G3 port plate (HH 805-2070-B), was removed to accomodate the different port configuration of
the Sawtooth’s AGP motherboard. The newer, Sawtooth port plate (HH 805-2233-B)
no longer featured the simple, screwed-in port plate design…
as Apple replaced it with a single stamped-metal construct.
While some purists may consider such a Hybrid an “abomination”… I’m now considering a similar
effort, installing a 533 MHz DA motherboard into a B&W G3 chassis… producing yet another
possible "G4 wolf" in "sheep’s G3 clothing” Hybrid.
[Of course, that DA’s port plate assembly will also need to make the transition to the G3
(which now has the problematic Rev. 1 MOBO - 350 MHz). But that’s a simple matter of
drilling out and then replacing the 14 rivets. Theoretical and of course... all perhaps
elementary to some.]
