It is only update from 2.0 to 2.0.2. It has only those binarys. Even full 1.0 would be nice.

Not there but something interesting is there:
Obsolete_Unsupported.sit
in Obsolete_Unsupported/Univ_Interfaces_3.2.img.sit.hqx
";"-Quete from files:      MIDI.a, MIDI.p, MIDI.h

;   Contains:   MIDI Manager Interfaces.
;   Version:   Technology:   System 7.5

BUT!

;   Currently, the extra functions in MIDI 2.0 are not in InterfaceLib
;   and thus not callable from PowerPC and CFM 68K runtimes (you'll
;   get a linker error).

MIDI Management Tools Set v. 2.0
M0240LL/D         $35.00

It seems that there is another order code too:
"
Apple MIDI Manager
Source: Order from APDA ([email protected])
           Order code M0240LL/E, price USD35
Description: The official word on how to construct MIDI programs for
the Macintosh; includes a program disk and 44 page manual.

i think we should focus on trying to locate the developer kit cdroms from the apple developer cdrom series.. that were released in new edition each year

Quote
Development kits provide the information you need to take advantage of the latest Apple technologies. These kits are available in the Development Kits Folder on our FTP site. They can also be found on the Mac OS SDK CD-ROMs as part of the Developer CD Series.

Note: For many of these development kits, you will also need to download Disk Copy.

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Dec-1998-Apple-Developer-CD-Series-System-Software-3-CDs/201657291724?hash=item2ef3b613cc:g:1lUAAOSwdzVXudf0

heres an example..

i know it was removed from prominent display the ftp.apple.com server sometime around 1999
and tucked into that "obsolete+unsupported" archive..

prior to 1995 it was not discontinued yet so it MUST exist on the 95 94 93 developer kit cdroms from apple!

i think the 1992 series cds that are posted on line msut be incomplete thats why i didnt find it on whatever i downloaded from https://www.macintoshrepository.org/1896-apple-developer-cd-collection OR https://www.macintoshrepository.org/1324-apple-developer-cd-september-1992

heres another example, from 1995:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-Developer-Reference-Library-CD-by-Apple-for-Macintosh-September-1995-/381118935418

i just posted a full list of the developer cds from 1991-2002 here:
http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php/topic,4074.0.html

within the list some of the cds are titled "SDK"
these are the cds that may contain the dev kit we are after (im guessing)

do any macos9lives members have any of these SDK EDITION cds?
these can be labelled as "mac os SDK" or "mac os SDK Edition"

http://site8.tweengirlstylemagazine.com/index.php?iei=apple+developer+sdk

preferrably ones from the 1990s

!!!!UPDATE!!!!

the files have now been found  :o 8) 8)
i found them on the 1996 SDK cd (cd1) thanks to Max1zzz!!!!!!

i will upload in a moment!
very cool!

not certain if it contains the guide. but i can confirm that it contains the sample applications! (6 of them?)
the file size is 7.8MB so this is considerably larger than the other package which contained only the minimum required components

alternate download location on macintoshrepository:
https://www.macintoshrepository.org/11836-midi-manager-a-k-a-midi-management-tools-

big thanks to the guys at MR who, through our conversation, helped me track down where i could find the files

its uncertain to me at this time if this needs to be on system 6,7,8 or if it works just the same on 9.22

as stated before these files were not publically posted anywhere online untill October 1995
25 Oct 1995 - Added MIDI Manager online availibility.
18 Oct 1995 - Updated eWorld Browser, PC Exchange, CD-ROM Setup, Printing Fix.

Best so far! There is not the guide, but there is those sample application sources helps understand something how to support AMM.

Midi Manager 2.0.2 works from system 6 to 9.2.2 both 68k and PPC. I have heard that it's even works in classic in Mac OS X, but without I/O ports, because somebody should make driver that can speak with OS X APIs from classic. For that documentation is also needed (I have to say that I only looking for it for OS 9.2.2)  as M0240LL/D descriptions says "New calls that support advanced MIDI Manager applications as well as the creation of MIDI device drivers". I don't know is that call documentation in that 44 pages manual and/or that floppy disk.

teroyk:

did u try to run the app "midi management tools"?? the file is 220kb in the archive
i have not opened the files on os9 yet.. ive been using my laptop which is osx 10.10.5
but i assumed that this 220kb is the major difference between the widely distributed AMM package
and what ive just found here with the sample codes.

but very well if you want to continue to keep looking,

i will check the first cds from 1991 next (vol 2 thru 7)

some very good goodies to be had here..
including a very interesting midiscope application

created by Ray Kurrzweil

not only that but guess what else it includes?
another Midi tools archive file!

Apple MIDI Manager 2.0.2

Download from Harmony Central (126K)

Contains MIDI Manager, sample applications with source code and full developer documentation.
Download miditools.sit.hqx (374K).
Requires Apple DocViewer available from Apple.

the link to the apple doc viewer app is not working however..
can anyone provide this app?
here is the path to the file on the old dev.apple.com site:
ftp://dev.apple.com/devworld/Utilities/Apple_DocViewer__v1.1.1/
i guess the 220kb file needs to be opened with apple docviewer to read it
and this *IS* the 44pg manual in electronic format.. albeit an ancient APPLE document format
(other than PDF)

this looks like the right version

this might be a better source to download it tho:

i think this kind of thing happens quite alot
ie: people paying no mind to a 220kb file with no icon...
not knowing what it is.. meanwhile what we are looking for is already right there
only obscured...

if one was to take that 220kb file and look up the filetype/creator
does it say Apple Doc Viewer? or would it say something else?
ie: different app used to view rather then to create...

I have to check that fileformat and think how to detect it from files.

i think anything prior to 1995 could possibly have documentation hidden away in this ancient apple doc viewer app format
