All is well now.  Put my old router back in place.
Internet speed is now consistently at the promised speed.
All machines on the network got faster and not just in the internet.
So list of machines that all started working or working correctly after this switch.
Clamshell iBook
G4 iBook
AI PowerBook
G5 PowerMac
MDD PowerMac (OS X only version)
MDD PowerMac (Natively supports OS 9)
DA PowerMac

Most of these I never checked until I discovered this issue.

Funny thing about the DA PowerMac.  That is set up as my home server (using OS 9).  This one continued to work network wise with no issue, but once the screen went to sleep it would never wake.  Difference is that has a static IP address. Monitor wakes properly now.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it, or break it so you can fix it!

Please provide manufacturer's name and model number of the router that you replaced (from AT&T?). This, so that I may compare to those that I know who are experiencing quite possibly, similar problems. Happy to hear of your recovery. Cheers!

I will get that for you when I get home.
I just turned off al the wireless garbage on the AT&T BS
I'll probably deal with all my port forwarding later.
