i want to move the third monitor back to the OS9 workstation but it seems i have lost my ADC to VGA connector.

does anyone know where i can get them for less than the usual 30 euros?

The Apple Display Connector (ADC) is a proprietary modification of the DVI connector that combines analog and digital video signals, USB, and power all in one cable. Apple used ADC for their flat panel LCDs and their final CRT display, before deciding to use Digital Video Input (DVI).

An ADC display accepts only digital input signals. As such, the appropriate connector can only be used with a graphics card which provides digital output. This connector does not support connections from graphics adapters providing Analog-only (VGA) output.

A monitor using an ADC connector can be directly connected to a graphics card which provides an ADC output. Additionally, an ADC monitor may be connected to a graphics card providing a DVI-I or DVI-D output when used with a third party adapter. DVI to ADC adapters should be available directly from Apple or from most local Apple-Authorized Dealers.

yeah, china, 30 euros is about what you will also find on ebay in germany or in local shops.

but 30 euros? for a second hand, non apple branded cable? well ok, not exactly only a cable... but when oyu see that a geforce 4 mac edition goes for 5 bucks it feels stupid to invest another 30 only to be able to connect a display.

i wonder if i should use the DVI output of my second card?

dude, that is VGA to ADC ... thats another story ... but still ... lol.

i mostly like the custom PC solutions from apple, especially the software and drivers and i appreciated the appearance of firewire a lot - but am sorry for everyone who bought an apple monitor of that decade! you need to upgrade you cables for 200 or 300 bucks only to be able to use them with a mini or G5 2,1!
