Typical Airport speeds on iBook G3?
« on: May 30, 2017, 11:28:28 AM »
Hi, my first post here hello - just got a late 2001 iBook, which is in mint condition and if the SMART utility was reporting correctly it has only seen 73 hours of use in its entire life - WoW!  :o

So, I put an Airport card in and hooked up via WEP etc. but a little surprised just how slow the speeds are (around 800k - 1Mbps). Is this normal or is there some trick to getting faster speeds? Not a huge deal as I didn't get the iBook for internet specifically - more curious than anything else.

Thanks, Matt

Nice one, thanks Knezzen I won't concern myself too much then!
Considering back in 2001 we would have been on 56k dial-up (...well I was) even 800k would have seemed surreal.

So now to tackle the fetid, humming, keyboard (the only fly in the ointment, as it were)...hairdryer: check; duct tape: check; vinegar: check ;)
