Studio 5LX not retaining Studio patches
« on: April 25, 2017, 01:40:16 PM »
When I use the Studio Patches program by Opcode, I expect the Studio 5LX to retain the patch in memory and recall it when I power it on. I can't get it to do that now for some reason. Doesn't the software send it to the unit when you open it? It should be retained at that point no matter what.

I think I'm noticing that since I have it plugged into a power supply, whose switch I turn off every day to power everything down, it doesn't retain the patches in memory. However, when I turn the unit off but leave the power supply on, it seems to retain the patch I've made.

Does the studio 5 function like that at all times, or is this not normal and I just need a new battery?

Hi syntho,
I am using a Studio5LX too. The tipps on the following link help me a lot to get the machine programmed. But I know the there is a battery inside the Studio5LX which was easy to replace in order to remember the settings when you turn it off. You don't have to start the StudioPatches app again and again and there is no need to program it anymore if you have done it one time. I did it and now I can switch the different patches in order to play my outboard hardware for example. But check the battery!!!!!

Best, paule.

Link for Studio5LX (look at the end of the page!!!):

There's really nothing on that link that's of use to me, but I guess I'll open it up and see if I can find that battery...

It's a Panasonic BR2325. My  battery tester is saying that it's absolutely dead. It lasted a good 20-22 years or so.

Hi Syntho,
glad that it is the battery which is the bad boy in the game! Sorry, that the link didn't help you. But change the battery and hopefully everything will run smooth.

Best, paule.

It seems to have fixed it. I'll report back tomorrow after a full night of having it shut off to be sure.
