iMac G3 500
« on: April 06, 2017, 01:46:26 PM »
Hi all.

Does iMac G3 Indigo (500 mhz + 512 mb RAM) has enough processor power to work as:
  • MIDI sequencer
  • MIDI sequencer & audio recording using rack MOTU 828 interface
using Cubase 5.0 VST 32 software

I asking because I currently have this computer, but also can get almost free PM G4 MDD 867.

Power Mac is faster, but iMac looking so cute... :)

I once produced an entire 12-track CD on a G3 500MHz desktop. So, yes it's possible.
It's also possible to drive from Los Angeles to New York City in a 1960's VW bug.
2000 miles and a couple of breakdowns later however, that VW isn't so "cute" anymore.
Would you do that if you could choose a BMW instead?
See my point?
