What kind of FW device you need?
Most of FW cameras can be used in most G3 and G4 Macs with Mac Os 9 straightforward ...

I have a basic Digital8 camera that has no issues.

I should have been more clear. I want a FW device that can capture analog video. My old Digital8 camera had the option to convert analog video to digital and either record to Digital8 tape or send over FW.  My current camera can not do this, so I'm just trying to find a FW device that can capture analog video and works with OS 9.

panasonic ag-dv1000 might be a good choice. i used one to capture and passthrough signals. you might get one for cheap on ebay. dv control is possible in os9.

whats your budget?

I forgot about this one.  I'll keep this in mind when funds become available.

Good to know. I didn't think about using a mind deck or camera as a passthrough like I did with my Digital8.

Budget is pretty much I have no money for this right now unless it's under $50.  In reality I'm willing to spend about $200 when funds become available (who knows when that will happen).

I would just keep using the Digital8 camera. It does the same than the Canopus ADC.

My Digital8 camera were the low end model and doesnt allow to do AD conversion, only D8 tapes to firewire.

I have a device (I bought it 2 years ago) that do the opposite, it takes firewire (4 Pin) and convert it to SCART or RGB. I wanted to have a "monitor out" for Premiere/Final Cut, but the truth is the gear is still unused, even when I have a spare TV for it. Another project for this year.

I am using my Panasonic NV-GS250 for such tasks. Should be quit cheap these days, and still a very good 3CCD camcorder.

My current camera doesn't do AD conversion. That was my original camera that died or I would just use that.

What about a pci card that can capture analog video?

At the moment, if there is something that meets the requirements and isn't crap I am willing to spend at most $200 (US Dollar), but I'd prefer less (wouldn't we all).  If there isn't anything in that range, that is fine, quality and feature requirement is the most important so it would just be a matter of waiting for more money to acquire.

Requirements (FW or PCI)

Capture analog video via both S-Video or composite.
Works in OS 9

The camera options that have been provided are being considered.  I'd just like to find a solution that is not a camera as I don't need another one hanging around.

Try this here

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Matrox-RTMac-Video-Capture-Editing-/361849263622?hash=item543fe59606:g:~vMAAOSw4GVYScR8

they have more but you probably wanna keep it on the low side. i can supply x and 9 drivers and premiere or fc 2 and 3 if needed.

I saw that earlier today and was debating.  Now that you found it as well and have drivers and such I feel better about it, so I got it.  Thank you to all for helping with this.
