4 hours may seem long, but after the ASR restore he will have a full running DAW with many hours of install and testing bundle in it with working plugins :)

That 4 hours will save 4 days

Yeah no idea why it took that long, in fact I redownloaded again tonight as I accidentally deleted the original downloads (they were on a drive I formatted!) and the whole lot took 20 minutes!

I've got a Digi001 (bought off a nice dude in here) and it's all rigged up and ready to go.  Just installing Pro Tools, then Logic 4.8.1, drag all my old song folders onto my data partition & I'll be ready to rock!

One thing I am going to do is once this is rock solid, do a proper backup!

I haven't done an OS 9 backup since about 2003 & I might want some guidance!

Thanks fellers!

for other users.. its alot better if u download those big files on a modern computer as the download speed will be GREATLY improved... mac os 9 just isnt built for super fast download disk access speeds.... MDDs do alot better of course.. but the original g3/g4s they just cant muster much speed when it comes to large downloads.. at least thats my experience. broadband internet downloads are never fast.. but using AFP on local network can be REALLY quick! to download those files i downloaded on my intel mac for my old vintage macs..

I found the best way to move data on my LAN between machines is to setup my main mac (Late 2014 Mac Mini running El Capitan) as an FTP server, then use Fetch on OS 9 to push or pull files, works great!

that definately works! and will serve you well, but when you are ready to graduate to the best, the best solution ive found is using an AFP server which can be natively mounted in mac os 9 as a network drive!!!!! and accessed natively via the mac os 9 finder same as a local drive

you wont know the beauty of this untill u experience it for yourself..
