USB Overdrive killed my Mouse (iMac G3 DV)
« on: September 13, 2016, 06:59:43 AM »
I'm using a iMac G3 DV model FTW, so I have no choice but a USB mouse.
And after installing USB Overdrive (1.4) my mouse got stuck at the bottom.
I barely know any OS 9 shortcuts (like I know ⌘C ⌘V ⌘X ⌘A), so right now my iMac G3 is stuck on and is a 40 pound pile of electronic crêpe.
I can move the mouse horizontally, but not vertically.
USB OVERDRIVE WHY

Scott, at bootup of your Mac, hold down the SHIFT keys, that will force your computer to start without any extensions. USB-Overdrive will not be loaded. Subsequently you can remove it by hand, and reboot again with all the other extensions. And no, it did not kill anything, the software simply does not work with your mouse. Such things are happening and not a big deal.

I have had this issue a lot of times. You have to change some of the USB overdrive settings and your mouse will work correctly again. ( Speed settings, IIRC )
Please don't PM about things that are not private.

Which settings?
I already """""uninstalled"""" it. (Delete extension and control panel)

Edit:
Nevermind. I changed the speed from "system" and it's fine now.
