i remember reading about the stealthport serial modem converters,
that they originally made adapters to replace the modem inside the first few models of imacs

The Stealth Serial Port for the iMac works on revisions A-D of the iMac. This covers all models of the iMacs (including the flavors) with processor speeds from 233MHz. to 333 MHz.

my question is;
has anyone here on these forums ever come across an imac with a serial port?
i always check posted pics in auctions hoping to see that little serial connector in the modem connection jack place on the side panel.. (see pics below)
but no such luck yet.
