roland groovesynth? DXi Instrument?
« on: August 17, 2016, 12:51:15 PM »
was reading last night about a vst/virtual instrument found in CAKEWALK SONAR
called the "roland groove synth" which curiously is loaded with authentic roland sounds
i was wondering if this has a mac/ppc counterpart?
has anyone ever usedthis?
apparently its got any roland sound in it from any roland device..original source waveforms
like tb303 bass sounds etc

heres a video

heres a page ill quote from:
https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5748945

Quote
"The groovesynth completely replaced my hardware MC-505. all the sounds are there, in plugin form. same drums and drum kits, etc.
so if you like that, then you'll like the groovesynth."
^^^ this is why im interested ;)

"Groovesynth, which appears to be roughly equivalent to an MC303, comes equipped with 400 patches (238 Groovebox MIDI loops are also on board), and is the source of Kinetic's drum sounds. When a drum kit is selected, Groovesynth even changes colour!"  -- http://web.archive.org/web/20150606101115/http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/nov04/articles/kinetic.htm

the page also reveals that its possible the groovesynth instrument im talking about is not a VSTi at all but rather a DXi (direct X)

perhaps it originates with this cakewalk Kinetic? software studio app? from 2004?

http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=12448
this page claims it originates in SONAR 5?

this makes me wonder if theres alot more DIRECTX only isntruments that are valuable for the content they provide..
