If you want to run OS 9 on an unsupported machine, check out mrhappy's post.

Thanks mrhappy!
  ;)
PS: Oh I failed to realize that DieHard had already linked to it in the other thread...

There's been many success stories! In my case it's a 17" Alu 1Ghz PowerBook G4. ;D

the most complete + functioning success are the fw800 "x" only g4's (towers)

the g4 towers are the only machines worth messing around with in my opinion.. similar to what was outlined by diehard on the html page portion of this site

Quote
Although the eMac G4 1 GHz "Combo Drive" Model, the iBook G3 900 MHz and the iMac G4 800 MHz (17" Flat Panel) all can boot directly to Mac OS 9, they lack CPU cache and are NOT the best choices for Audio & Video applications. -- (http://macos9lives.com/mac%20os%209%20lives_002.htm)

this topic was further explored here: http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php?topic=308.0

note that this thread was made way before we cracked the fw800 g4's to be able to work with mac os 9!
so the update would be that the 1.42 ghz fw800 MDD g4 is the king daddy of them all
