With an Acard ESata card?

Some 7200 rpm drives demand extra power.

I have tried USB 2.0  2.5" boxes that cant spin 7200 drives
Looking for MacOS 9.2.4

its true i had a 7200 rpm drive that i had to plug in 2 USB ports to get enuff power for the drive
but its still interesting.. so its powered by usb..and then plugs into an ESATA port..

not so sure i would be interested in using such a device but for someone with a powerbook G4 + PCMCIA Esata card such as the Firmtek 1SM2 that would be perfect (probably more perfect to use a 5400 RPM drive to ensure it can power up with a single USB port)

I have tested it with my Seritek 1ve2plus2

If the USB host does not provide enough power to work properly, you always can connect it to a external USB power adaptor, very common now a days ...

... and to notice, that this eSATA can achieve arround 120 MB/sec. more than *twice* the speed of FW400.

If you only have SATA (internal) and wish to add an eSATA (external), a cheap adaptor like this can be used:
