anyone have any experience using MIDI only "performer"?
« on: August 15, 2015, 03:45:24 AM »
i noticed i have a copy of performer 6 backed up
i cant remember who gave this to me!! between 6000 posts on macos9lives + 1000+ on my own site my head is a mess :D lol

http://www.mediafire.com/download/dwr1502t2vlp7vl/Performer_6.0.1.sit
heres the link... i think v6 is the final version of the midi only performer version

http://www.motu.com/techsupport/technotes/performer-6-system-requirements
this page lists the requirements to run it..

Quote
Performer version 6.03 has the following system requirements:
68040-based Macintosh or faster; Power Macintosh recommended
8 MB RAM or more (20 MB for PowerPC); 12 MB or more is required if running System 7.5 or later.
40 MB RAM or more is recommended.
Mac OS version 7.1 to 9.2.2; System 7.6.1 or later is recommended.

given these requirements are extremely lite this is a great app to run on even 68k macs!!
i think this program was originally released in 1997

we dont have much screenshots of the oldschool performer version
i was wondering if anyone has this already installed + has tried it out?
obviously this would be of more interest to those of us that have a large number of hardware synths!
vs VST enthusiasts..

Yes that's it. I don't like Performer, with or without audio. It have a very ugly interface. It's less flexible than Cubase or Logic and Free MIDI is mandatory.

Despite that  Digital Perforner 3.0 it's a very good step in to the right direction , it's slow as hell.
Please don't PM about things that are not private.

I was a fairly heavy user back as far as '87'-ish I believe... I didn't think it was ugly at all... now Logic...THAT was ugly!!! Haha!  ;D

Did all the editing entering measures/beats/ticks before that 'fancy' graphic stuff came along!

That screen shot is from a 'new fangled' version!! ;D

skip to 4:04

u can hardcode that timeindex by adding &t=4m04s to the end of the url!

im pretty sure the interface just looks different because its in color + a higher resolution.. and on mac system 7.6.1 which is what performer 6 is reccommended for use with at a minimum..

but yes it does look different. that videos from the 80s. and this screenshot is from early 1997. big difference. guaranteed its a later version.
