Usual SoundDiver hassles
« on: June 05, 2015, 12:52:25 AM »
I'm wrestling with SoundDiver, I need to try version 3.0.1, I found 3.0.2 on this website's archive, the file ends in ".img" which is a disk image, but so far I canot mount it! sounds painfull I know.
I've tried DiskCopy 6.2.2 in OS9, Toast 4, 6.1.2 and OSX 10.4 all to no avail. What do I need to mount this image?

It all stems from me wanting to install V3 on OS7 PPC, it fails as SD needs InternetConfigLib, the version in OS7 is not suitable and SD needs OS8 version. Michael H tells us, the need to access that app is diabled in SD 3.0.1

have u tried consulting the manual?
http://www.deepsonic.ch/deep/docs_manuals/emagic_apple_sounddiver_v3.0_manual.pdf

theres a detailed installation procedure in chapter 2

I'm also trying to mount the image but it won't let me mount it using Toast. Hmm...

I believe it was enabler that once uploaded an archive of Emagic stuff and the Sounddiver stuff was included. Somehow all of that got deleted. Wish I still had access to it.

The Sounddiver 3.0.4 updated gives me an error when trying to update the 3.0.2 files included in the download. Hmm...

https://web.archive.org/web/20180613160834/http://www.macos9lives.com/downloads/public/SoundDiver/ - we did in fact have all of it. Now it's gone. I have an old hard drive with copies of this on it but the HD died. I could repair it but it's probably too much work to recover it.

Turns out that package was seriously weird / messed up. As I recall, I succeeded with it by NOT following any instructions in the read-me.

You need to install OMS - preferably first, and create your Studio setup file. Soundiver will be looking for it the first time you run it.

THEN:

1. Unstuff the download
2. Open the 3.0.4 / 3.0.5 folder - The 3.0.4 img is f---ed up but you don't need it anyway.
3. Mount the 3.0.5 img with Toast  (Toast Titanium 5 can be found here: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/toast-5-titanium)
3. Drag the 3.0.5 version only out to the main folder
4. Make a new "storage" folder for all of the other versions and put them in there so that 3.0.5 is the only version at the top level next to the authorizers.
5. Launch the 3.0 authorizer (NOT the app) and it will authorize 3.0.5 - you skip all the previous ones - I don't know anything about the "alternate authorizer" - I didn't need it.
6. All the data files and stuff you need are already installed in the "Diver" folder - everything should work - just keep all of it together in the main Soundiver folder.
7. From now on, you launch the app from the 3.0.5 app file. You can make a 3.0.5 alias to put elsewhere if you want.

Every now and then you'll be asked to re-authorize Soundiver. Just launch the authorizer again.

Piece 'o cake!

We really need to put this info in the downloads area. Speaking of the downloads area, I've uploaded PT plugins multiple times over two years ago and they're still not posted here. Hmm...

After some investigation, there are actually some updated modules released in the 3.1 beta release of Sounddiver. The adaptations included in the 3.1 updates are actually cross-compatible between OSX and OS9. I'm searching for the 3.1 updates but I can't find them anywhere.

    SoundDiver 3.1.0 Beta 2.dmg   2016-03-30 14:25   30M

If anyone has these please post them!

the limit here is some 50 mb or so, just fine for a handful of adaptions. any updated or new adaptions for SD 3 would be very welcome.

Would be interested in having an OSX Beta copy of SoundDiver. Have the XSkey to drive it.
PowerMac G4 MDD (1.25 Dual). 2GB Ram, GeForce Ti 4600 Mac. 3x RME Digiface paired to 2x Ferrofish A32s. Seritek 1SE2 external SATA setup.

PowerMac G4 2002 Quicksilver and Powerbook G3 for SCSI applications.

For others that may not know, of course we have a working 3.05 here:

emagic Sound Diver 3.02, 3.04 & 3.05 - Universal MIDI Editor/Librarian
