1 GHz Ti Book ? Drive

Not sure if this is a software or hardware issue.  But almost every time I restart the system it can't find the drive.  I have to turn it off and back on and wait to see if it can find its way to boot.  Running OS 9.2.2, but OS X does the same thing.  Is this a mobo or HD issue?

Sounds like a HD or PSU issue. I´d give DiscWarrior a try and see if its getting better and if it can repair something.

If you are not happy with the Apple diagnostics...

1) Also make sure the Gold Ribbon harness cable is not damaged, I have seen them simply go bad

2) Next step, remove the drive (and carefully remove the Cable assembly); now use a Laptop IDE/PATA to Desktop PATA adapter and run a Manufacturer's HD from on a PC;

Note: even if you cannot "see" the HD on your PC you can still run a full 4 Hour Diag. This will not damage the data on the drive as long as you use a normal extended test which is non-destructive (like the WD Diags); By the way, the Western Digital Lifeguard diagnostics will test all branded Hard drives (NOT just Western Digitals) and it will do SATA, PATA, Notebook, and Desktop HDs. we use Version 1.24 on all our testing servers

The drive is running intermittently.  Thanks for the responses.  I love my Ti Book, OS9 and Classic X.  Anyone used a SSD on a TiBook?  Recommendations?  Thanks!

I just put one of these in a customer iBook G4 933 last week (I will post some pics soon)
It made the unit feel very peppy as compared to the original HD, but is has slower transfer rates that the Samsung and OWC SATA SSDs I am used to, but overall a great upgrade

Well, I think a SSD is going to be the new drive.  Just weighing my options via price, size in GB, performance and manufacturer.  64GB prefered but 32GB would be enough, sorta maybe, ahh no, 64GB would have to be a minimum.  Thanks again for the input.
