I have not tried Outlook but this is what I use with the Classilla E-Mailer for my gmail account (POP):

pop.gmail.com
Port 995
Checked "Use Secure Connection (SSL)"

As for smtp:

smtp.gmail.com
Checked "Use a secure SMTP / STARTTLS connection, when available"
Port 25

And of course in the settings of your Google account you need to enable unsecure applications to be allowed to connect.

Good luck! (@Roman - this works with Entourage 2008 in OSX as well)

Thank-you very much, Bolkonskij!

Your advise helped me a lot. I simply had to use the Recaptcha on the newer computer, then login again on the old one, and it worked!  :)

Didn't see this mentioned (unless I'm blind and Command + F didn't see it)... but Basic HTML mode for Gmail's web interface works great in Classilla if you don't feel like messing around with a mail client and security settings.

However, mail accounts through my webhost (Tiger Technologies) work perfectly in Microsoft Entourage 2001 and OS 9 with the settings they provide.
