does this drive have the same formfactor as the ZIP?
i have a few macs that have zip drives installed
im wondering if it would be a simple swap..  to swap it for a jaz drive?

why woiuld i want to use a jaz drive?
if i was using some hardware samplers that used jaz drives/disks. thats why.

are they IDE?
do they have the same form factor?

There was internal 3.5" Jaz and Zipdrives. I have a 3.5" IDE Zip drive. IIRC both of them where available with SCSI and IDE (PATA).

An IDE version of the drive was planned, but never released.

A jaz cartridge is thicker for sure. It's the same formfactor as a zip though, if you mean an internal one. You'll more easily find an external drive. If you do decide on getting one, be aware that your drive will eventually fail and that Jaz cartridges have always been finicky. I use them because they're a necessity, not because they're reliable.
