File Buddy 4.3.9

File Buddy is a general utility for working with files and folders. It can:

    Obtain and set a wide range of file and folder information.
    Find files using an extensive set of search criteria.
    Find files containing specified resources.
    Modify a batch of file names, e.g., remove ".txt" from several file names at once.
    Rename a batch of files sequentially.
    Create aliases easily in you favorite places.
    Create volume and folder inventories that can be compared to report new, deleted, and modified files and folders.
    Find empty files and folders, duplicate files, unattached aliases, and unused preference files.
    Rebuild desktops, even on floppies.
    Move and copy files.
    Delete resource forks and data forks.
    Erase files and unused disk space.
    Create custom icons: from PICTs on the clipboard; from other icons; for folders; with blank icons; using only small icons.

Obtaining a license for File Buddy 7
File Buddy 7.6 is still available for individuals using Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X 10.1-10.2.8, but we no longer sell File Buddy 7. If you would like to use it feel free to do so with this license:

File Buddy 7.6 requires Mac OS 10.1 or later (v10.1.4 or later recommended), or Mac OS 9 with CarbonLib 1.5 or later.

This package contains the File Buddy CP control panel and contextual menu plug-ins supplied with File Buddy 6, which will work with File Buddy 7.6 when using Mac OS 9. If you have installed these items as part of a previous installation of File Buddy 6, you do not need to download these items. If you have never installed File Buddy 6, or you installed it and subsequently removed these items, you will need to download the extras and follow the instructions provided for installation.

Can you believe the 7.6 download is a .zip file? And even more, all my test to uncompress that zip showed me resource.frk folder even in OSX PowerPC.   

Do we have another source of a Fillebuddy version  more modern that 4.3.9?

I am not sure if buggering Skytag software to tell them that what they have to download is worthless because is a .zip file instead a .sit . Maybe a member with a more polite english than me can send them an email to report that.

I think everybody here is a % nerd, but some of us have an excellent english (not me) too. 

Maybe the .zip file is right on early OSX to have the resource fork correct. It still make me wonder what is considered a normal setup for a Apple PowerPC.

If they have published last FileBuddy as .zip is because they thought it could/would/should be better than classic stuffit.

Or more probably, the people that sell the OSX version has nothing to see with the people who do the OS7-8-9 stuff.

to me it is totally unclear why there can be zip or sit files which do not work in OS9 and OSX.

before i joined this community i haven never seen things like that.

this is one of the most fascinating thing here that we are sometimes able to create problems where there was no problem before.

but as you can see, even developers like the filebuddy guy can fuck up archives or images because they forgot how to do things in OS9.

i have 617 installed, to my knowledge this was the last for OS9. the last for 10.4.11 should be 900.
