weird wifi issue (solved)
« on: February 11, 2015, 08:31:58 PM »
want to share a weird issue iĀ“ve had last week, which i never saw before.

in my main G4, which is among other things equipped with 2 SATA disks via PCI card, i had suddenly random drop outs of one or both of these HDs, sometimes with warning message "the drive has not been put away properly" (similar to the message you get when disconnecting a hot firewire drive), and sometimes without.

once the volumes were gone i could not remount them. sometimes a reboot helped, sometimes not.

after a few days (until now this all was in OSX) i tried if it also appears in OS9.

it did.

after the third restart in OS9 i got multiple error messages about that little red wifi usb dongle in my keyboard: the wifi would be underpowered and might not work.

so after about one week i had to find out that this usb dongle (which probably switched from working to underpowered all the time while it was connected) was the reason for the unintended departure of some of the SATA drivesĀ“volumes (but only  them)

further investment about what happened is not required, but could still be interesting.
