Sorry for bumping this old thread, but it has been a useful so I thought I'd add my old iMac's discs in for reference:

@DieHard, I know you posted this a couple of years ago now but I wonder, you list presumably your own single 1.25 MDD's discs so may I be so bold as to ask if you by any chance still have them? And would you be willing to maybe make a .cdr image of the two with Disk Copy or something and upload them somewhere for download? I have the same MDD as you but got it second hand and have never had the software discs for it so would obviously like to get my hands on them and it's proving rather difficult. Thanks!

I will Image my CDs/DVDs since the Mac garden is NOT the "last 2003" version set... it has ROM Mac OS ROM file v9.6.1, which is older and that set is dated 2001.

I have the last set ever produced for MDD, so I will hunt down and image

I will image the complete set, (1) DVD, (5) CDs; it came bundled with the 2003 MDD FW400 and possibly the same set as the FW800 Dual 1.42

Gentlemen (Ladies?!), I am starting a mirror for some of the files that are asked for a lot.  It's a file repo which will need you to register, admin authorises your account, then you can upload mac related files that you want.  I am only after Mac image files with the relevant description.

I am working on it at the moment but will post back when I have some files uploaded and open it up for registration...

Instructions: Most of our files have been encoded with MacBinary format (.bin) so that the data and the resource fork of the file will not be damaged when storing the file on a non-Macintosh file system. After downloading, if the file does not automatically decode by double-clicking, we recommend opening StuffIt Expander and Selecting "File" and "Open" to decode the downloaded file. StuffIt Expander is included in every Mac OS 9 installation. Additionally, once the StuffIt Expander app is open, check EDIT > PREFERENCES > INTERNET and "use stuffit expander for all available types"

The 10.5 retail with the big "X" can and should absolutely install and work on an MDD.
Perhaps you can explain further exactly how it "fails the install" ?
