The Mac OS Anthology, intended for third-party developers to test their software against different versions of the Macintosh operating system, was first announced by Steve Jobs at the WWDC in May 1999. Due to its archival nature the various Mac OS versions are stored on non-bootable DVD-ROM media.

The first release came with all Mac OS operating systems from Mac OS 7 to 8.5 in a boxset with 4 DVD-ROMs which included up to 25 localized versions of each operating system release. It was sold at a price of $199 or $149 to Apple Developer Connection (ADC) members who ordered before May 14. The price was dropped to $99 in 2000.

The second release introduced Mac OS 8.6 on two additional DVD-ROMs and was available at the end of 1999.

The third release, available in February 2000, added Mac OS 9 in 15 languages on two additional DVD-ROMs. A second boxset labeled Mac OS Anthology 2000 edition added the now 4 additional discs to the original boxset from the first release.

these files are fairly large im surprised they posted them publicly .. so i would assume these links may be temporary?

the pictures of finder in osx show "disk 8" i think all the other disks are very old versions of mac os
once extract from 7zip format it is in .img format
each release is also in NDIF .img format (non bootable)

each disk lists the full anthology contents but most are just shortcuts, only some are actually contained on each disk
for example:
Disc 8 contains mac os 9.0 versions of:
Swedish(1)
Swedish(2)
Italian
Traditional Chinese
US English
Z-International

as seen in the attached images disc 7 + 8 contain the mac os 9 installers
disc 6 contains the 8.6 updates + last few 8.6 incl dutch, english, italian, swedish, chinese + international

Don't worry Chris. I've had them in my collection for the last 14 years, so there's no chance of them getting lost forever. If anyone loses their backup of this, let me know and I'll find a way to send you the disc images.
