i think i just made a really good decision...

so..
i was thinking about the timeline of the origin of the hardware..
and i said thats it.. im putting my digi 001 inside my B&W G3 450mhz
this machine has always felt zippy as hell in OS9.. and i was looking for forever to get a
g3 version of the stealth port for the b&W .. but i dont think thats going to happen anytime soon
and i dont feel like holding my breath.. so i decided to pull my megawolf serial pci from my mdd
i had been thinking of doing this also because the megawolf card is from around 1999. the time moreso
of hte b&W g3 rather then the mdd 1.25 (2003).

i then took it a step further and moved the digi-001 off the other MDD DP 867..
and its happily inside the b&W aswell..

seeing as both the megawolf + digi001 + the computer itself are all from 1999..
i just have a good feeling about this combination!!
on the mdd, it would sometimes not detect the megawolf romulus pci when booting
also, sometimes the digi001 adat light wouldnt light up and the card itself wouldnt show up
both are working 100% from first boot inside the b&w

i also plan on using the Studio 3 as my midi I/O via the megawolf romulus 2xserial pci card
beefing up the hard drive with a 30-60gb SSD, either IDE DOM or SATA with IDE converter (Screw the Sata pci card)

another thing ive done is removed the radeon 7000 PCI video (by sapphire, which is apparently an official mac card)
and replaced it with the original RAGE 128 GL PCI that the model shipped with..

installing Pro Tools LE 5.1.1 ;)

now that ive made the discovery that the gina 20bit is also compatible with my g3 (and not my g4's)
its living permanently in my 3rd slot inside the b&W..

slot 1 RAGE128 (or maybe i put back the radeon 7000 PCI)
slot 2 megawolf romulus x2 serial port for midi
slot 3 Echo Gina 20bit
slot 4 DIGI 001 PCI

i wonder if theres any purpose to link via SPDIF my gina20bit + my digi 001?

i also thought, maybe i could have ableton live + pro tools open in the same machine.. with audio outs from the gina20 connected into the ins on the digi 001
do u think the B&W g3 450 could handle two applications open? direct IO + ASIO at the same time?? both creating + recording?

it might be a great combinatio because the sound of the gina 20 has very low noise.. its a very clean + bright audio from this card!!!!!
i was hoping it might work in the quicksilver and only be incompatible with the sawtooth .. but it looks like ive used up all my luck for today;)

WOW! This is working pretty freaking well.. i just connected a 8 channel RCA - 1/4" snake from the Gina20 bit.. via a breakout cable from a delta 410 using a db25 gender changer..
and now ive got ableton loaded up with each 8 channels going to physical outputs of the gina.. thru the snake and into the digi 001! both apps open..
and it seems to be working great... all this on a lowly g3 B&W!!

now i just need to sync the Transport so it plays live when i press rec/play on pro tools..

Aha... another user of the Gina 20.

I plan to install it on the 9600 233mhz.  ;)
