..are you aware of the fact that externals written for OSX wont work in OS9?

there are externals for os9 & osx in that archive?
if so could explain some things
http://cnmat.org/MAX/OS9.html
http://www.maxobjects.com/?request=%s&operateur=&id_plateforme=2&id_format=&start=3555&Submit=OK
2001/2002 most people were still using Classic OS
have been boycotting Mac since they started pushing OSx
purposely killing Mac classic
~shrug~
is anything in that archive worthwhile for you?
https://www.macintoshrepository.org/8077-max-msp-externals-and-abstractions-collection-macos9-v-1-0-
personally making myself relearn classic on 3 machines
purposely aware of how "retrograde" that seems/is
feel like wasting so much time on all of this
my objective for "messing" with MAX/MSP again is
remembering some completely forgotten things/methods
that can be "evolved" & utilized
in making new personal sound design tools
such as camel toe & some of Karlheinz Essl's creations
(saw/heard/met interacted w/him ages ago at some tiny loft called "DeadTech")
http://www.essl.at/software.html
so would have to admit he was inspiration
been into generative composition again recently
should probably email him directly in Deutsch
anyways...
have 3 "Classic" machines somewhat stable again now
some little tweaks that may want attempting
(such as having Cubase recording/editing midi)
my original idea was having Mac "catch" midi & audio from some of my generators/sequencers
and/or synchronize with my main system
not in any desperate bind for gear
want giving the old Mac some well deserved appreciation/energy/respect

better get busy recording
uhmm my 7100 makes for good DrumStation for my sprawling acoustic Kit
so have been using it for recording drums
then bounce recordings from XLR 442

need switching some gears soon so can get more productive

well, everything in that externals folder are binaries for OSX. you must have been using that in OSX but forgot about it. (and btw thee help file folder ends at letter a-i?)

havent found something "new" yet, but regarding apps i must confess that i have no idea which i might have or not. when they were state of the art, i might have ignored those which i rated "useless".

if you are into composition you should get a copy of my old sequencer some day. but for a stable clock and audio DSP at the same time i strongly recommend a G4 processor. for proper GUI feedback a latest generation video card such as GF4 shouldl also be in play.

prefer sequencers "midi only" and/or Control Voltage Gate
have had some problems in the past with host clock glitch errors
took me long time resolving
this place seems having good collection of "objects"
http://www.maxobjects.com/?request=%s&operateur=&id_plateforme=2&id_format=&start=3555&Submit=OK
haven't started digging through his collection as of yet
want actually getting back in create record/edit/mutate/compose mode
do you have link page for your sequencer?

maxobjects is not really supported by developers / patchers, myself included, but it can be helpful to at least find stuff via archive.org. the externals should all be in my collection (a few to come with the next update)

haven't touched any of this in years since 2002ish
MAX/MSP is all blur anymore honestly
fortunate that the machines even powered up
had to hack/solder floppy ribbon cable yesterday for getting that drive working in 7600
looked like a mutant subway rat had taken bite out of that ribbon cable
3 classic machines now "operational"
suppose next step is get them back on appletalk network
probably grab minimac as main Mac file server
thanks for input

Not max related but cycling 74 related. I'd like to know if somebody has a working version of M for macOS (7 to 9). I've searched the web but with a a name as short as M, had little success.

I'd like a working version of Max 3.5. I've got 3.0, but 3.5 adds some interesting things. 4.2 isn't very pleasant on a 80 MHz 601 :)

yup. or, if you have a legit copy, the .5 should be a free upgrade and unofficially still supported.
