Logic Express 6, anyone?
« on: September 16, 2014, 12:41:04 AM »
Would be nice to have it on the PowerBook so I don't need to use the XSKey with it.

Does anyone have it? Would be wonderful if we could post it in the downloads section for everyone to enjoy :)

EDIT:
Seems like Logic Express 6 is an OSX only application. My bad.

yep express was the first osx only app.. before logic 7! announced around 1/20/2004
heres the press release https://www.apple.com/pr/library/2004/01/15Apple-Streamlines-Professional-Audio-Product-Line.html

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/may04/articles/logicproandexpress.htm

errrrr
read the press release..
it seems to indicate there is a 9.1+ version of logic express 6!!!!!!!!!
Quote
Logic Express 6 requires Mac OS X, version 10.2 or higher, Mac OS 9.1 or higher, a Macintosh computer with a 250 MHz or faster PowerPC G3, G4 or G5 processor, 128MB of RAM and 100MB of available disk space for installation.

pretty sure it requires xskey tho.. same as logic 6
i think it was in version 7 that they dropped the key for express and kept it on full 7..
and then in 8 they got rid of the key altogether for both

Damn... Well, I guess i'll stick to 4.81 on the PowerBook until I can find another XSKey.
The white one I have now needs to be in the studio at all times.

"Logic Express CD Vol 1" sounds promising... is it possible to run without xskey tho?? probably not?

There wasn't an update to Express that remove the XSKey requirement?

Enabler, any way the Express should be added to the downloads section :)

ive just downloaded the cd from the ftp (logic express vol 1) about to check it out

just did a quick search for logic 6 updates
came up.. nada.. they dont list any updates for anything older then 7.01
http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search&locale=en_US&src=support_site.kbase.search&q=logic+6+updates&sec=support

anyone else know where to look?
it may be plausable that there was an update as knez theorized

i can confirm:
my logic audio 6 (not gold, not platinum) authorized the app..
but of course it would not run without it

perhaps enabler or someone else could detail to us what is on the extra cds that come with?
the installation did install some EXSamples

Run the installer on this CD to install your complete Logic Express
software and sounds.
The other CDs in this package are only for authorization of the VST
plug-ins EXSP24 and EVP73 when using Mac OS 9 (CD copy protection).

this is the only text in the readme from the cd

Yes, nian offered a bunch of Emagic and propellerheads software...
I just asked him about uploading Logic Express 6. Unfortunately it need SXKey to run.

requires dongle but yes it works
u need a blue or white usb key with the apple express license
im not sure if it will work with a full logic key.. it might. but then why would u be running express when u can run the full version;)

I think it would occupy less system power as I'm wanting to install it on a tweeked iBook (500mHz, then 600 mHz, 768 MB Ram)… !

thx, indeed!  8)

p.s. where can I get those logic 6 express-files?

Logic Express has silly limitations compared to Pro/Platinum and is not really more resource efficient.
What is the attraction?   :D

One of the reasons Emagic was so popular amongst OS9 folks was how CPU friendly it was.
I had 40 odd 24 bit audio tracks and a pile of inserts/sends all running off an average 7.2K IDE Hitachi drive back in 2000, with Logic 4.81. A fair few EXS24 instances were no issue either.... all on a G4/450mhz single.
