SystemExtending: MacOS9Plus is a collection of 300+ control panels, system extensions, control strip modules, and contextual menu items. the bundle has been compiled mainly from web archives, shareware CDs and private collections.

there are a few files in this collection which have not yet been tested in OS9 and might only work in older MacOS, and there are a few manuals/readme missing.
the installer will not install into your system, but installation is made easy by the custom icons applied to the system files.
you are advised anyway not to install everything at once, because different system extensions (which for example all patch the apple menu or the appearance manager) might conflict with each other or render each other useless.

all files have been renamed in a certain fashion, mainly to include the version numbers. some of the extensions and panels have names starting with funny symbols by default, this was intended by the authors of the software and is required to make extensions load before or after other extensions. copypaste may not be renamed either, because its name its required to authorise it.

if you install all CMMs the menu becomes longer than the height of a 1920x1200 monitor and takes 8 seconds to load. so choose wisely.

Can anyone share his/her must install list from this? A lag of 8 seconds for the CMM is a brake for OS9.

I have used A-Dock, DragStrip, DragThing, FinderPop, Kaleidoscope, QuickKeys and  SnapzPro.

u should have picked 10 of these
and actually explained what they do
even if i wanted to i cant select the text u have put here for an item
and google it to get any more info. because there is no search results
for these items?? especially the way u have written the version numbers
this doesnt match..
for example "FinderKeeper 150"
googling this.. results .. none.
so i have no clue what this is..
is there documentation in the package?

because theres too many things and no explanation this post is going to be useless for most people

to spend 2-3 days to dive into this

if u could focus on the top 10 of these and actually
write about why they are good what they provide and why its of value
then the post could actually be of some real practical use

the only one that really sticks out to me is ADock and im really surprised that
diehard + mactron are not as much of a fan of this as i am..
perhaps this stems from the fact that it reminds of osx
but in my mind, its the other way around, osx stole the idea of the dock from this app
for sure!!! (depending on when it was first made available?) does it pre-date mac os x v10.0?
im pretty sure i had this app installed on my mac os 9 pc when i was doing graphic design
at an ad firm in around 2001, it was around this time that the rumours of osx were beginning
to be of great interest to the others in my department... if it is a real fact that they took the
inspiration for X's dock from this, i wish they had of copied alot other os9 gui innovations
it always really pissed me off that i couldnt click the title bars in X to minimize as this was a
big 'feature' for graphic designers to be able to 'minimize in place' in this way

it blows my mind that still to this day this feature hasnt been added back as an option in X!

u can call it negative, i call it constructive.
because 300 things that are not explained
is less value then 10 things properly explained.
u are demonstrating this even now, by explaining just a few of these things..

without a definition + proper understanding of that definition,
any word or symbol in any language is meaningless.

im not saying that the collection is not of value..
but it would be of more value to any readers of this forum
to take the time to introduce these things slowly over time..
explaining one thing per day...
rather then to post this huge list at once..

i´ve been doing that three times now, one got deleted by chris and the the two were ignored by him. i am patient, but i am not stupid.

and it is hard to tell which are the most important ... without window monkey and open wide i would stop using OS9 .. and the value of alternative browers or usboverdrive is raising year by year ...

including a short description and the serials is planned, but i also have other hobbies atm.

the CMMs are mostly working without INITs, so it is really easy to test them, you just install all of them, then see what you like, then remove the rest. with controlpanels and inits this is of course not possible unless you want your system to freeze.

i would recommend that you start with those where you can tell from their name what they do. "startupsoundmute", for example, will not add a search field to the menubar, it mutes the startup sound.
but there are also some others which are so strange that you dont know what they do even after booting it and reading the manual...

I am looking for the smallest footprint of OS9 for my 3 PowerMacs, specially for my G3 450 but I am still in the search of the best app launcher. I have used A-Dock and I love it.

I like customization of the GUI, for example.

I would like to try just usbwheel instead of usb overdrive, because overdrive do not work with my wireless logitech mouse (every movement make the mouse to go down...    )

one of the most useful functions of Adock for me,
"Show desktop" shortcut which you can elect to show by pressing CTRL-click on the small strip of a-dock interface closest to the side of the monitor + selecting "show desktop" places an icon near the trash icon on the a-dock that you can quickly press to clear you screen of all open windows.. very usefull when busy working;)
