Is a Dual CPU 1.25 any hotter or noisier?
« on: July 13, 2014, 05:50:49 PM »
I currently have a 2003 1.25ghz MDD. Is the dual CPU 1.25 any noisier than the single CPU version? I can always switch out the fans since I bought some silent ones for my current MDD.

Also, I know that software has to be actually coded to take advantage of multiple CPUs, but I'm curious as to if the dual CPU implementation in OS9 itself is very good. Will I see a general increase in speed throughout the whole system generally?

The dual 1.25 will be my next purchase and I'll use the single 1.25 as my backup machine. Hopefully I can just switch the HD from my current machine into the dual 1.25 and I'll be up and running in no time.

I'm curious is a Beige G3 desktop model is quiet enough for studio use. The minitower too.

the dual 1.25 is a crossing between an airplane and a motorcycle with the additional option to use it as computer.

pretty sure they have almost no heat / noise issues..
i just saw a youtube vid of a 486 dx2 66mhz chip can be run without a fan or heatsink on the chip
i think heat issues only really start to come into play once u get to around 867mhz
even then the quicksilvers seemed to handle the cooling no problem with no insane heat sinks + fans
