we need to become "mac warriors"
http://www.acm.uiuc.edu/iCal/workshops/applescript/index.html

this applescript is on every mac os 9 install already!
applications > apple extras > Applescript

Most Macintosh users don't realize there is a powerful hidden interface to their computers -- a way to control and automate much of what we do every day; a way to save time and money; indeed, a way to have the computer do your work for you. It's called AppleScript, an easy-to-use, approachable, English-like language that controls nearly everything your computer can do. If you're not using AppleScript, you're working too hard. Give yourself a break... learn AppleScript today!

i posted about this before:
http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php?topic=798.msg2853#msg2853 http://snippetcenter.org/en/create-self-mounting-image-from-disk-copy-image-s338.aspx

last time i was trying to automate disk copy to create .smi files
which i read is how they were done before the shrinkwrap app made it easy to do this..

but -- i feel theres alot more power in applescript.. power to master this old platform and make it work for us;) literally!

:'( i didnt have much luck with applescript. resons?

im not a programmer-guy. my poor brain is more right-wing. learning max/msp fairly well has taken me almost 10 years.

many programs and some Finder-actions dont respond, or respond poorly to apple-events

there is a recordfunction in applescript, but it does not record some basic things eg. mousemoves or menuchoises

it seems to me it is not so well integrated in the system sometimes creating  conflicts

also, its often kinda slow, especially applets

still, i ended up using it together with osa-menu. this means i can change creator on a selection with an key-combination shortcut. or change settings in the soundpanel without opening it.

i think applescript is a really great idea but should probably have been built on a lower level...

these workshops that youve found looks good thou...you should try them!
