http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep04/articles/usbcharlie.htm
this looks pretty sick

is it a spanned stuffit file or 4 seperate toast files?
in our dls section http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php?topic=1106.0

its a dvd cut into cd size volumes of stuffit folder?
or are they seperate cd images that are numbered and need to be individually extracted?

company name is "Ultimate Sound Bank"
USB is kind of confusing;) i thought it was hardware

This would be a dream come true... I already myself have rips of multiple samplecell cd libraries (I haven't asked the ripper if i'm able to share them on a site like this though) and have been looking for more old-school and borderline impossible to find samples for my collection. I seem to hear there were rumors of an old upload that had a whopping 6 to 8 of these sort of things. but it has since been lost. Coming from someone who is an archivist, I highly recommend seeing if anyone can get these sorts of things backed up for all registered members to access.

stock audio doesnt count as "abandoned" as soon as programs do, they even still receive DMCA requests on archive.org.

sorry, i made a .sit, now you have to move it around. but keep the .sit in your collection, so you will always know what OS it is for.

thanks a lot for the keygen!
unfortunately I have the same problem with the PlugSound keygen...(Plugsound post..). the Charlie gives me 10 characters to request an authorization code while the keygen accepts 9. Is it possible? I'm just unlucky to use Mac and it gives me longer authorization codes? Is it my Mac's fault? someone used and authorized Plugsound and Charlie (always from USB) on his mac? let me know, thanks

Plugsound - 10
Charlie - 9

Actually, I was able to copy/paste longer string. Charlie kg truncated it to 9 characters, Plugsound kg truncated it to 16, but generated number stayed the same for 9; 10 and more characters.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

I report here my latest discoveries hoping they are of help to someone..
I wondered what was generating the serial number. my MDD produces 10...uhm..I thought these plugs are
really old so i tried to use an old powermac agp and..wow!
9 characters. I managed to authorize everything with ease. i took my hd mounted on mdd and mounted it on the old agp and
I authorized everything successfully with the same numbers.. put HD back on MDD unfortunately it doesn't work..
the serial is generated and linked to the computer.
what the plug will read during installation is a mystery...
it would be nice to be able to modify these to be able to authorize all computers..

i cant remember and i dont use sampleplayers myself. but there should be an *ahem* fully working version for later plugsound for OSX, and there might be a reason for this.

ethernet or HD based protection schemes normally always gives you strings of the same length and you must have been doing something really wrong if your users cant install your product on any machine. :)

good find with the AGP mac, but you had pure luck, those plug-ins are from around 2003.

I have nothing but an anecdotal instinct that the size of the hard drive somehow factors into the process.  I feel - again, totally unsubstantiated - that my problems with USB stuff always came from machines that have larger hard drives.

Give it a shot on the MD with a smaller hd.

Can’t hurt …

it doesn't depend on HD, that's for sure. same HD different serial numbers on different Macs. same HD on MDD 10 characters is not authorized mounted on AGP 9 characters is easily authorized .. probably the software creates code string by reading something from the machine on which it is mounted. on MDDs with different HDs, one of 2TB and one of 128mb, the number generated to authorize is the same. HD authorized on AGP mounted on MDD is not authorized and the screen reappears to authorize it with the 10-character number.. it does not depend on the HD...

Earlier today I ran into the "too long string of numbers" problem with Plugsound and I remembered that I had stumbled on a workaround back when the software was first released.  Doubt that it will work for Charlie but if you don't mind the nag screens, there are two ways that you can use Plugsound in perpetuity.  The first is to go into the preferences folder and delete the invisible PS-0whatever file every few days.  This will reset the demo counter.  Another option is to use something like filebuddy to lock the file.  Then it'll stay at whatever day count you are at forever.

I wasn't sure I remembered the workaround properly but I tested it today by installing it, launching it, cranking the calendar forward and, with the locked pref file, it stayed at 15.

You can also use my new UVI KeyGen. It supports the Charlie PlugIn and works with Challenge-Codes that are 10 or 11 numbers long.
