pro tools LE 5.3.1 / 5.3.3 ????
« on: July 01, 2014, 12:24:45 AM »
just found this page:
http://archive.digidesign.com/download/531winle/

which has brought some questions to mind..

is this 5.3.1. for windows only?
was it released around the same time as 5.2.1 (the mbox version of PT LE)?
or was this released later on?

http://archive.digidesign.com/compato/ lists 5.3.1 for mac os 9?? but only under "Non-Accel Pro Tools|HD Systems Only"
i see now it also lists Pro Tools 5.3.3 for Windows XP

i apologize if this is old news..

just trying to determine what the highest 5.x version of PT LE is..
i had thought the answer to this was: 5.1.1
for either DIGI 001, or MBox systems

now the next question is..
why does this windows 5.3.1. version carry such a higher version number?

is there anything functionally added of benefit to the windows 5.3.1 that isnt in the mac 5.1.1?

Protools LE 5.2 is for MBOX only. In os9 and the first XP version.

There is a beta version to achieve the 32 tracks for 001 and Audiomedia III
http://archive.digidesign.com/download/32Tmacle/

The win 5.3 version is only for mbox, not for AM3 or 001. As the os9 5.3 version.

There is also a version for OS9 for DIGI002 (not rack) bigger than 5.1.1
http://archive.digidesign.com/compato/os9/002/

I will love to see Resedit mods for DAE and DSI files to make those "modern" versions of LE work on AM3 and 001. I readed somewhere than those modern versions work with less plugs than 5.0.1 or 5.1.1.

You should locate your DIGI interface on http://archive.digidesign.com/compato/ and start the search of the version you need from there. It only depends on what interface you have...

Remember that PT5 Free (5.0.1?) works without DIGI hardware, works with most of the plugs and is only limited to 8 tracks. (I am sure a resedit work with PTFree can make it 32 tracks, because in windows it was hacked to have 32 tracks)

Also a Free but older without plugs version is there http://oakbog.com/PT3NuBus.html

In the Oakbog page it mentions using diferents DAE and DSI files, so maybe all the Protools user should look carefully to this.

Maybe with resedit we could use TDM protools with LE hardware (In windows, you can hack 6.7 TDM to work with MBox, 001 and 002) I tried that hack with and 001 and a AM3 at the same time (I had the hope that 6.7 TDM could see the AM3 as a farm card but it doesnot, even having a motorola 56000). The AM3 do not work with that hack.

So the highest is only for 002.
Every new version of PT has a pdf called "What is new on protools xx" Search them and that will solve that question.

yes exactly this is what started me to create the best win98se box i could;) because this is the only version of pro tools i could find that can work with literally ANY interface.. as long as it works on windows 98

it would be really cool if we could accomplish a 32 track hack for mac os 9
or the ability to use any interface would be legendary:)

but the way in which these companies (digidesign, steinberg) made things re versions and numbres etc was very much non-intuitive
why wouldnt they just call it PT LE for mbox or PT LE for 002 .. if theres a specific version just for that interface.... the reason they require so much documentation is their own stupidity about how they organized + did things!! thats my opinion anyway
