How to burn a bootable OS 9.1 CD...
« on: May 04, 2014, 09:35:17 AM »
I've downloaded Mac OS 9.1 (Universal Install) - Toast CD Image however it was not bootable.

Obviously i've done something wrong in the unpacking and burning process.

What is the correct way to unpack and burn a bootable CD ?
LC520(my first iMac @ 25 MHz ), 8500/SonnetG4, Performa6360, QuickSilver PowerPC G4 ( 933MHz ), iMac PowerPC G3 500 MHz ,iMac @ 3.06 GHz, AND a plethora of midi/audio/recording gear and software and oh! let's not forget all those acoustical music instruments

_normally any mac os 7 - 9 can boot from anywhere, including the trash folder of an USB 1.0 stick.

so if your CD doesnt work it is either not new enough to support your hardware, or the following procedure will help: install it onto the HD, then burn the system folder to a CDR to create your custom boot CD for this machine.
