G4 Digital Audio Restore image
« on: May 02, 2014, 06:27:51 AM »
I'm looking for a disk image copy of the G4 Digital Audio restore disc…

I've found several copies, but they turned out to be for different machines.

The disc I'm looking for restores Mac OS 9.1, and the files should have creation/modification dates of January(or February) 2001.

Does anybody have a copy of this?

Perfect!

Could you image them, and upload them here? I'm sure other people are looking for copies!

I'm not against this idea, but...
It will eat a lot of a-drive space, with very little benefit...

Perhaps we have to start a different post to discuss about differnt versions of Mac Os 9 (even machine specific ones).

But In my oppinion very little can be argued against Mac Os 9.2.2 + MacOsROM 10.2.1 + CPU Software 5.9 in the machines where it is supported.
I even had tested the mitical Mac Os 8.6 on a Sawtoth against it, with no benefit in favour of Mac Os 8.6!

So I think that "other" Mac Os 9.x versions must be supplied in a "per demand" basis.
Please don't PM about things that are not private.

perhaps this would be a good use of mediafire.com's free space for uploading?

Still looking for this!

MediaFire is pretty good, used to be better though. MEGA.co.nz is also pretty good.

If this is still an issue, I might be able to help as I have the original disks that came with the Digital Audio back then. All I need is instructions on how to make them available. If this has already been solved, sorry for not getting it - I'm new here  -afro-

my Quicksilver restore discs are for 9.2.2 and are dated 2002
for the 933mhz QS

try this:
http://vintagemacmuseum.com/
go to "resources"
then "mac software"
then Max1zzz’s Classic Mac Server - a vast collection of Mac system and application Software
then "Servers"
then click the server link
type in user: mg
pass: mg
"mac os classic"
"Apple disks"
"Apple restore discs"

hm actually it looks like they dont have that one either
twookayprod is your only hope :D

im just trying to find the 9.1 restore disc for the Digital Audio G4 from January 2001..
and interestingly enough there is only a german copy of the 9.1 restore disks for the "Digital Audio" models on max1zzz server....

if anyone has the original 9.1 restore + install cd from the digital audio series please speak up! it appears its not available anywhere

i found them on the macintosh repository site i think
i will upload them to my mediafire directory folder where i have kept a number of g4 machine specific restore cds.. (which ive been asking for some time, aka the last 2-3 years, to be added to the download boards here on the site)

anyway see my post here:

I haven't been here in a while, so maybe this has already been solved... but yes, I do have the original CDs that came with the Digital Audio back then - because I actually bought this machine back then - still works like a charm  8)

So if you want it, it's yours. I do need instructions on how to make it available, though, I'm not much of a computer guy  :o

necro-bump

I have an original Danish OS 9.1 Install disk + That extra disk.
It’s stuck on Danish and I get an error with a regular 9.2.2 Restore disk (bomb something ‘Error Audio Bus’ -typical!)
I’m probably never gonna use that digital audio port, but will need an English or International Restore disk for this system,
anybody?

*edit* sorry, reread the thread and found macstuffs' files on mediafire (PMG4DA91CD)
will test those and hopefully it'll suffice :) I'm just concerned about the Mac OS ROM file, is that not machine specific on each factory CD?
